Hear his testimony:
“I had grown up going to church on and off and never felt like I could understand the Bible well. When I would ask questions, I rarely got any answers. It seemed like no Christians could answer my questions about the Bible so after awhile I left church altogether and just assumed that if I was good enough the Lord would accept me. I always believed Christianity to be true, and always believed Jesus was real, but not much more.
One day while at work a man was moved to operate a machine next to mine. I had heard that he was a Christian but I didn’t think that meant much because of my past experiences, but when I started to talk to him he would always talk about the Bible. So I started to ask him questions. He was a student of the Bible and had many answers that others didn’t have and if he didn’t have the answer he would turn to the Bible and search for the answers.
I realized that if the Bible does have answers and if Jesus was who He said He was, then I needed to follow Him. I knew that there were others out there that needed to understand that the Bible is not so hard to understand. I have made it my goal ever since to teach the Bible in such a way that everyone can understand it. I have been an avid disciple of God’s Word ever since that time that I gave my life to the Lord.”
Pastor Mike Seaman was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1963 and raised in New Market, Indiana. He met his wife, Jeanette, in Crawfordsville in 1983 and they will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary later this year. They have two daughters Danielle Whitman and Jessica. Mike has served the church in many capacities including Bible Study leader, Sunday School teacher, deacon and elder. He currently is employed by EMDS as a Vibration Engineer and is currently volunteering as a counselor and Assistant Director of Through The Gate drug and alcohol rehab.
Hear his testimony:
I always had a problem with what I called organized religion and consequently never desired and actually was against church membership. By God’s grace He had different thoughts than I had about church membership. During this part of my life I started reading through the Bible yearly for the first time in my weak Christian walk. Each year I saw more and more about Jesus and what He has done through creation and His plan of redemption. This resulted in a desire to serve God and God’s people and church membership and an insatiable desire to learn God’s word and to teach truth.
During this time of increased studies and service, God revealed to me the five Sola’s of the reformation and I came to a reformed position of faith. These Sola’s are:
Sola Fide, by faith alone.
Sola Scriptura, by Scripture alone.
Solus Christus, through Christ alone.
Sola Gratia, by grace alone.
Soli Deo Gloria, glory to God alone.
In 2009 I took biblical counseling classes at Faith Baptist and saw that one of my passions was for counseling. In 2012, God opened the door for my wife and I to work at the Rockville Correctional Facility with the P.L.U.S. Unit to serve as “House Mom and Dad” along with counseling, mentoring and teaching class electives. We were being prepared to serve in prison ministry. This ultimately led to volunteering at Through The Gate.
As I look back over my life, God had been preparing me all of my life and continues to this day.
I’m a sinner saved by faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus. My mind is tainted by the effects of the fall and a sin nature, therefore my interpretations of scripture is guided by the following principle. I will always lean or err on biblical interpretations that give God the most glory.
StoneWater Church is a church that believes the Bible is sufficient for life.
